Q: I have a 1999 GMC Sonoma and was recently involved in a wreck, can I fit parts from a Chevy S10?
The parts that I need are the fenders, radiator, condenser, fan, lights, grill, and the radiator support.
A: Yes. both vehicles share the same internal parts mostly. The lights and grill are different.
Q: 1998 Chevrolet S10 Performance and Off-Roading Parts ?
I am looking into finding parts that can be fitted to my 1998 Chevy S10 (4.3l V6 with 5sp) that will help with its performance and handling on and off road. I have a limited budget, and am hoping to get most of my parts from my local junkyard. I need a list of parts that have been proven to bee fitted on a S10 with little to moderate custom work. Im looking for any of the following:
- Big Brakes (80's Corvette?)
- Turbo and Intercooler (Volvo/Saab/Mitsubishi/Eagle)
- Suspension Upgrades (Sway Bars, Springs, Etc.)
- Better Steering Rack (Rack and Pinion?)
- Driveshaft
- Engine Componants (Cyl Heads, Cams, Etc.)
- Seats and Interior Pieces
- Gauges (80's Chevy Suburban or Mk1 Volkswagens)
- Better Cooling? (Radiator or Resevoir Upgrade)
Got any other ideas? Please share, thanks.
- Differential (Ford Explorer Posi)
- Swing Away Spare Tire Rack
- Lights?
A: At the book stores or grocery store, pick up copies of magazines (Hot Rod, Custom Trucks, Street Thunder, etc) on reworking of Chevrolet S10 or GMC S15 for what others have already done. Go to the car shows and ask questions when you see these vehicles on display. Also try www.gmperformanceparts.com
Q: 96' chevy s10 - having problem putting the clutch back together?
there is a snapring on the old clutch, however the new part from auto zone doesn't have a place to put it. do i use it or not? thanks!
A: Dude, simply take it back to Autozone and ask them. Explain the difference and have them check the part if it's the right one for the right year/model. They are supposed to be professionals at parts. If it's the right part, they can look up and print out a 'How to' to place the part on, if it needs any adapters, yada-yada.
Q: Why do people think they can get a $2000 dollar car from the auto parts section?
I just posted my friends 91 Chevy S10 Blazer 4 door in the auto parts section of Craigslist for $350.00 or best offer hoping to get at least $230.00 for it. The posting has been successfull so far since i had over 17 Emails about it. The vehicle runs, but it has a hesitation problem, and will need to be towed. It looks good, but the bad thing is it has over 203k on it. I got people questioning me about the tires, interior, and mileage. Dont these people realise they cant expect much from something this old?
A: Everyone wants something for nothing. People can be really cheap, and sometimes their cheapness causes them to just be stupid.

Sly thanks man for the info, I followed the sound and found it quickly.
It's sqare, and under the dash on the passenger side.
A: the flasher is usually situated in the fuse panel and you can hear it when emergency flasher or directional signals are used they are usually round and about 1 inch in diameter or black squares 1 inch in diameter
Q: Can someone please tell me if the parts on a 1987 Chevy Blazer can interchange with a 1996 Chevy Blazer?
They are both 4 W.D. vehicles. To be more specific, I need to know if the ring and pinion from an '87 Chevy Blazer (S10) will work on a '96 Chevy Blazer. If no one knows the answer, does anyone know who I could call and ask? I appreciate any help given. We were trying to bring it home and driving it down the road, it sounded like a jack hammer!
A: Assuming that you're talking about the GM 7.5"/7.625" rear end then yes, the ring and pinion should be interchangeable. Its my understanding that GM used the same rear-end thru '97. Keep in mind that installing used gears may add some harshness coming from the rear end because the ring and pinion actually "broke in" in a different rear end.
Q: Which engine size should I replace my 2.8 V6 with on my Chevy 1984 S10?
My '84 Chevy S10 with automatic tranny is goin bad..3 of the cyclinders has oil in them. I'm curious which engine should i put back in it. Basically I have replaced all the parts(carb, coil, alternator etc ) within last 3-4 years. Is a 3.1 same on gas as the 2.8? Thanx for any input! :)
A: Would be cheaper and more reliable to just get a newer S10, they don't cost to much.
Q: Need help deciding between a early '90s Chevy S10, or a mid '80's toyota truck.?
So I'm trying to find a good little starter truck (well, I say starter, but I'd like to have it for at least 5 years), and my budget is about $1000-$1500 . I've been finding 2 trucks so far that I like in that budget, early 90's chevy s10's, and mid 80's toyota trucks. (a 90 toyota would be nice, but so far haven't seen one in that price range.
Here are the most important things I'm looking for.
1. Good gas mileage, I'm hoping for at least 20-25 on the highway.
2. Decent power. I know good gas mileage and power don't mix well, but I want to make sure I'm not driving a brick.
3. Reliability.
4. Ease of fixing/avalability of parts/low cost of parts. I'll be doing all my own repairs so being easy and not too expensive to fix is a big thing.
5. Overall looks, and Tire size. So I'm not looking for a big lifted rig, I just hate the look of trucks that are low to the ground with puny tires, as long as the stock tires are pretty decent size (or its lifted a tad) I'll be happy.
Thanks.
A: chevy. go with the 4.3 if you can. I cant stand the 2.0
Q: Chevy S10 pickup - identify tail logo?
I'm looking at a possible purchase. The Chevy S10 pickup has a logo on tailgate. The first part probably says 4.3, meaning the engine size. On the right hand portion, there is some text which is hard to read, even when I enlarge it.
I hope it says ABS - antilock brakes.
Can someone identify the right hand text?

A: I don't think it says ABS...I think it says something about electronic fuel injection. The truck still might have ABS, though.

A: The S10 Durango was produced in the late 1990's. Parts are the same as most other S10's with the exception of trim pieces and upholstery. I did look on E-Bay and the trim pieces are there for sale.
There was quite a bit of info on the Durango S10 on line. Just sort through it to find what you need.
Q: 2 questions about chevy s10 pickup...1 on power steering and 1 on air control unit?
power steering- how do I go about diagnosing what's wrong with ps unit? while it's tough to steer, I'm still driving the truck. I put in ps fluid and it just leaked out. not sure if it's resevoir leak, hose or if unit is just shot. do not want to go and buy a completely new unit if there is some other fix......next question...my chevy s10 pickup had been idleing high, I asked the guy at local parts store about it and he said it sounded like it needed an "air temp sensor". Ok, I replaced it and followed the instructions in a s10 chiltons manual, and lo and behold it worked...for about a week. now the hi idle is back, with intermittent bouts of low idle...so I'm wondering, did I just get a crap replacement or what?
A: Get under there and Look! Is it the pump leaking out of the fittings where the hoses connect? Is it one of the hose's theirselves? Is it the seal on the back of the pump housing? (The pump is put into the housing, and uses a large O-ring for a seal) Is it coming out of the power steering gear box? (This happens a lot. Don't even think of replacing the seals yourself. It's a major pain. You have to disassemble the whole steering box! Keep all the ball bearings in their places, and re-assemble it, after you've installed the seals. As already suggested about the pump unit, this unit is best replaced, rather than fixed!) Diagnois the problem. As for the high idle. Also check to see if you have any bad hoses. Really look close! Squeeze them in your fingers. A lot of times with a cursory examination they look good. You look close, and squeeze them, they're so dry-rotted, they start turning into powder! Again as has been suggested, check to see if you disturbed any hoses, where now some have come loose, or are barely on there. Air Temp Sensor for high idle? How about the Throttle Position Sensor?
