Q: 2000 Chevy Silverado truck in a wreck, ALL the front need to be rebuild, where can I order parts?
I was in a wreck on Valentine Day, ran right in the rail guard on the interstate, head on. Miraculous, the truck still run; however, I need to order a lot of parts to get the front (entire bumper, headlights were smashed in, and the radiator need to be replace) back to where it was. Does anyone know where I can get parts for a 2000 Chevy Silverado truck? And a guideline in replacing the parts yourself? My insurance won't cover it and it's too expensive to send it to the shop. I figured this will be my project. Thanks!

A: Too bad it wasn't the day before on Friday 13 that wouldve been a good story. JC whitney usually has some good panels for replacement, also try LMC parts. For cool little stuff you can look at stylin trucks.com or other accessory places. The only guidelines are to be good at welding and body work.

Q: 1985 chevy silverado?
looking for picks of a 305 carburetor in a 85 chevy silverado mine is missing parts and hoses but i dont know what or where they go thanks.

A: All the pictures in the world won't help, unless they are in a tech manual. Break down and go to the GM dealer and buy a manual for your truck. Or just drop an old 6.2 Diesel in it, and you will never have to look at a carburetor again.

Q: Can anyone give me programming instructions for the keyless remote for a 2001 chevy silverado?
I've got a new remote, plus the original, which doesn't work worth a crap. It only works once every five tries. I don't know if I need to reprogram it also or if it's just junk. I've replaced the battery and it doesn't seem to help. I would like to program the new one but don't want to have to pay GM. You would think that since you spend 20 grand on a truck that they'd help you with part of this stuff for free.

A: 1. Close all vehicle doors. 2. Insert the key into the ignition. 3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel-continue to hold down until instructed to release. 4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in fairly rapid succession. 5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine). 6. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. 7. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 8. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. 9. Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The vehicle will lock and unlock the doors automatically. 10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously until the door locks and unlocks. This step may take up to 30 seconds. 11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional transmitter (including any existing transmitters). 12. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.

Q: Advice and cost needed about u-joints and brakes for 1995 Chevy Silverado?
I have a 1995 Chevy Silverado, 152000 miles, that has developed a low roaring sound that seems to come from the rear end when moving forward. The mechanic proposed to "replace driveshaft center support bearing and check u-joints when driveshaft is removed". Part needed is the "center support bearing assembly". Since the wheel bearings could be a source of the noise, I asked that they be checked. The report was that "right rear axle seal leaking, wheel cylinders leak, brake shoes soaked with grease. Recommend rear brake service package due to grease leaking onto rear brake lining". Parts recommended are pads/shoes, wheel cylinders for the 2 rear wheels, and a rear axle seal. To the mechanics out there--Do these sound like reasonable solutions and recommendations? How much should this cost? Thank you!

A: It's better not to nickle and dime that stuff and go ahead and replace the bearings, seals and brakes all at once. And it's kinda dumb to even bother checking old u-joints when the drive shaft is off. You've already done most of the work replacing them, and they don't cost very much. An honest shop might do the whole thing for $400 plus parts. A crooked one would try to soak you for a grand, and then mark up the parts 300%.
