Q: Installing new car speakers into toyota, but keeping factory stereo- good idea?
For my moms birthday I want to get her some new speakers installed into her 2007 toyota tacoma.
She has a cd player/radio factory stereo installed and I do not have the money to get her a new stereo aswell.
would it still sound good, or have enough power if i just install new speakers?
Also she is not looking to shake the neighborhood with some massive speakers, we just want more power and clarity. Any suggestions?
A: It will sound better, just look for speakers with high sensitivity ratings, and lower RMS ratings, I would say stay under 45 - 50 Watts RMS if you are not planning to amp them. Also speaker harnesses like these, http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=12071035 will allow you to add them easily, without messing with the factory wire. if you get the speakers from Crutchfield, they will give you the harness free.
Q: What is the best way to negotiate with a vehicle salesman?
I am in the market for a 2007 Toyota Tacoma. It will be my first new vehicle purchase. Just curious if any experienced buyers have any advice or methods that you have found to work best to get the best price possible. I've done a lot of research as far as invoice price. I'm just needing to know more of what to say to them in order to get them to come down in price. Thank You!
A: Here's what I did when I bought a new car last year. I decided on the model I wanted and found a dealer I liked and test drove it. I was pretty sure I wanted it even before I drove it, so I was prepared with info from sites like carsdirect.com. When we sat down to discuss price, I came straight out with "Here's the deal. I don't want to pay more than invoice (which is what Carsdirect was offering). If you can do that I'll buy the car right now." He left and came back with the sales manager. I ended up paying $100 over invoice. Don't be afraid to leave. There are plenty of dealers and they know that. You walking out the door is their worst nightmare!

Q: Will removing my bug shield give me better gas mileage?
I drive a 2 door 2007 Toyota Tacoma 2WD 5-speed manual 2.7L 4cyl engine. I get about 20 MPG. I have a bug shield on the front, do you think removing this will give me better gas mileage? Any other tips?
A: Yes it will give you better gas mileage but the only way that you will see the difference is by doing a lot of highway driving, driving in town will not make a difference......
1. Don't top off your gas when filling up. Do you realize that the pumps are set up to suck back up the extra gas that you pump after your tank is full. It does this so your tank will not overfill and spill over. Basically you are paying for gas that you are not getting.
2. Use the lower-octane gasoline. Unless your car is made to utilize the higher octane, you are wasting the extra money you spend on it. Check your owners manual.
3. Tighten your gas cap. Gasoline will evaporate very quickly.
4. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Under inflated tires will cause resistance and will lower your gas mileage as much as 15%. Inside the drivers side door will tell you how much air your tires should have.
5. Air conditioning is a huge gas guzzler. When in town driving, it is best to roll down the windows if you can stand it. The air conditioner lowers your gas mileage as much as 10% to 20%. However, if you are on the free way it is better to use the air conditioner than to roll the windows down, because of the drag it causes.
6. Keep your engine tuned up. Check your spark plugs. Bad spark plugs can be responsible for lowering your gas mileage 30%. Air filters should be changed every time you change your oil. Air filters are a forgotten thing. It is not something that is commonly changed with your oil. You have to ask for this specifically. An old air filter can lower your gas mileage up to 10%.
7. Take it easy. Accelerating quickly on the freeway can hurt your gas mileage by 33%. Use your cruise control. This will help you to maintain an even speed. Driving at 65 miles per hour compared to 75 will increase your gas mileage by 10%. 55 miles per hour will increase it by 17%. It will take a little longer to get there, but will save you gas.
8. Don't idle your car. It is not necessary to warm up newer cars. They are made to just start up and go.
9. Plan ahead. Think about what you need to accomplish in the next week and combine trips. You could literally spend half as much as you do right now.
10. Avoid rush hour traffic if at all possible.
Q: Body Lift or suspension lift which one is better if i want to go 6in?
I just bought a 2007 Toyota Tacoma Dbl Cab and would like to know what you recomend on the lift. I hear mixed emotions about this problem. Some say dont mess with the suspension and theres say dont mess with the body. What to do?
A: With body lifts, you never want to go any higher then a 3 inch lift. Otherwise, it gets a little unsteady. If you go with a suspention lift, the kit will be designed with the best possible handling, however it is more expencive, but you will get the best preformance out of the vehicle that way. Also, with raising a body 6 inches, you my be asking for problems that you're unaware of, will the engine clear the inner wheel wells, fuel lines to the tank, will you have to lengthen wires for the tail lights, engine sensors (not many, but there is going to be one or two), headlights, and then the wiring into the cab, by lifting the body this much, thats quite a bit of movement, that the wire lengthes were not made for, broken wires are more likly to occure. Also, you might get a large (6 inch) gap between the bumpers and the body of the truck, if the kit does not come with a bumper relocation kit. that gap right there is quite ugly. I would personally go all suspention, that way the vehilce will handle a nicer, and it will handle like it was made to sit higher, with body mounts, the truck will still want to handle like it stock. If you take it off roading or hit harder roads, then the suspention has more give, and more strength then the factory suspention, and you wont get the body spacers visable between the body and the frame.
Q: how many quarts of motor oil does the 2007 4.0 litre v6 toyota tacoma take?
A: The link below will show parts available for your truck. Pick your truck from the list, 2wd, 4x4, long box etc...
I've been searching google for you for an exact answer, and I can't find a match. I suggest you look at your owners manual, I'm assuming this is your truck, and in the back you'll find the specifications for your vehicle, including how much oil it needs. You can also open the hood and look underneath for a sticker which might indicate how much oil you need.
If it's your truck, enjoy :)
Q: I am looking at gettign a new truck which should I get?
1. Dodge Ram Quadcab 4x4
2. Nissan Tiatan Crew Cab 4x4
3 or wait for the 2007 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 to come out so I can check it out.
Please let me know the good and bad experances you may have had with any of these trucks.
A: If it comes down to money, go with the dodge. As another answer said, they do offer better deals. If your pocketbook is not hurting... I would definatly go with the toyota or the titan. Tough decision!! I personally like the Titan, which I bought. Mine is a 2004, which I bought brand new and I love. It did have 2 minor recalls, but that is to be expected with a new vehicle. They have probley worked the kinks out by now! Other than that I love it!!
Q: Do you get a tax write-off for purchasing a new car?
I bought a 2007 Toyota tacoma...do you get a tax write-off for buying a new car?
A: The answers above are correct. Unless you use it for business or the vehicle is a "qualifying alternative fuel vehicle" e.g. hybrid, which your Tacoma is not, you won't qualify for a tax-deduction or write-off.
Sorry to say
Q: what Sub woofers should i get?
I have a 2007 toyota tacoma 4 door truck with a 6ft bed. i want to put the SUBS behind my back seats. There isnt much space to play with. Are shallow mount subs any good? or are there some narrow 10's that are not shallow that would work. I have a 2007 rockford P500-2 500 Watt 2-Channel Amplifier. Also, anyone use this amp or now if its any good? Thanks!

Q: Toyota Tacoma or Lexus IS350?
I have two options, I know it is a weird comparison. I truly want a IS350 though but now it's just down to $$$. But if I get a 2006 Toyota Tacoma my mom will buy it for me. I have to make a decision by tommrrow. I figured I'll take the Tacoma and drive it, while saving up the money for the car I truely want. What would you guy do? I will be making 40grand a year at my job. My commute will be 70miles roundtrip to work.
2007 Lexus IS350 is 42K out the door. My mom will give me $5000. Meaning I have to pay $37,000 + $2400 insurance. Payment should be almost $900 a month for 5yr loan which includes insurance.
2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 4 Door Double Cab. She buys it. I just pay her $300 a month including insurance as long as I drive it.
A: You seem to be a young man.
Do not get yourself in debt with a car now.
The Lexus will get scratched, dented, and rusty in time just like all cars. You just won't be paying for it still when it does!
I could have had a Lexus RX330 but decided with a family on a Toyota Sienna and I have not regretted the Sienna for a minute. Toyota's are great cars. The Lexus IS nest though!
Q: How do I care for my vehicles Teflon coated paint?
Hi,
I just purchased a 2007 Tacoma and Toyota put their "finishing touch" spray on the exterior paint. I think it is a teflon based protectant. Anyways, it is supposed to protect the paint from the elements. My question is, is there anything I need to do to care of this coating? How about washing? Is it safe to use automotive detergent or will it strip the sealant? How about waxing? Will that srtip it? Thanks for the help!
Mitchell
A: Paint protection sold by a dealer is nothing more than car wax--they say it has Teflon in it to sound good 'cause everyone thinks nothing will stick to Teflon. It may have Teflon in it but basically you're paying for the warranty...waste of money in my opinion. Check the wording of the warranty---some of them require you to reapply the wax periodically and you should be able to get more wax at the dealer at no charge....other ones just require that you rewax as normal. Just buy a good quality wax and rewax when the water does not bead up on the car....wash as usual with any good car wash soap not dish soap. Next time, save the 400.00 for a good buff job or detail once a year.
Q: which truck should I get? toyota tacoma, chevy silverado, or nissan frontier?
2007, v6, 4x4
A: these trucks really don't belong in the same category...the Silverado is a full size truck, and the other two are small trucks. Out of these three though, I would highly recommend Chevy Silverado. It's a great quality truck with virtually no problems.
