Q: Toyota trailer light adapter plug needed?
I have a 2006 Tacoma with a stock towing plug (power socket) and reciever. The problem is that I need a plug adapter to fit a 4 flat plug on the trailer. Everything is available for american cars at the auto parts store, but not Toyota 06. How is this going to work? I cant even find the adapter on the net. WTF???
A: I am assuming from your question that you have a 7 pin plug on your Tacoma. If so, that is a standardized plug, and it doesn't matter what kind of vehicle you have. They make an adapter that plugs in and all that then sticks out is a standard flat 4 wire. If you can't find it anywhere else, the dealer should carry it...I see them sold all the time.
God Bless!
Q: what is "fuel air metering" pertaining to my toyota?
check engine light has been on, went to auto parts store to get code, dont have alot of money, truck runs fine, toyota tacoma 2002 4x4 4 cyl
A: fuel air metering valve. adjusts the air to fuel ratio.
Q: What All Do I need to get to put a/c in my truck?
Looking to put a/c in my 96 toyota tacoma truck . But really don't know what all the parts I need.
A: Most important would be to see if the alternator can handle the extra load of an AC unit. You'd be surpirsed that vehicles where AC isn't stock sometimes don't have the ability to add one without changing for a new alternator and maybe even some wiring.
Q: 94 toyota P.U.. No model ident anywhere. reg says HalPic. Manual is for several vehicles. 4wd, t100 or tacoma?
I know it sounds stupid but i need to order parts. truck was a freebie from inlaws. I have no idea what the model is and would like to order springs today. several pickups are listed for 94. T100, tacoma and "pickup". Also how do I identify rear end to buy a new cover?
A: Look on the information label inside the driver's side door jamb. If it is still there, there will be a listing for model on the label. There are different model numbers, depending on whether it is 2 or 4 wheel drive, extended cab or regular cab, short or long bed, and 4 cylinder or V6. T100 model numbers all begin with RCK or VZK. While pickup model numbers start with RN or VZN. The Tacoma wasn't made until 1995, as a 1995 1/2 model. Tacoma model numbers start with RZN, or VZN
Q: 97 Tacoma check engine light P0171 and P0133?
I have a 97 Toyota Tacoma pickup with the check engine light on. Odometer is 155K. I had Autozone pull the codes: P0171 and P0133.
P0171: PCM has determined fuel system for bank 1 was too lean.
P0133: PCM has determined that response time for oxygen sensor 1 in bank 1 was too slow during testing.
To me, it sounds like oxygen sensor 1 (upstream of catalytic converter) is the most likely culprit.
I am trying to determine the most cost-effective approach to resolving the issue. Should I pay the dealer to diagnose the problem and then replace the parts myself? Or do I have enough information to replace some parts at this point?
A: I would replace the oxygen sensor and have the computer cleared then drive the truck for awhile and see what happens.Sometimes one sensor wiill take care of multiple problems. If this does not work then take the truck to a very good service garage.

I am looking at lifting the ute 4 or 6 inches, do the tundra or tacoma parts fit directly on the the hilux. What systems are best
A: the toyota hilux and the toyota t-100 are the same utes!!
Q: Help, my hood release cable slipped out.?
The cable to release my hood has slipped out of the actual mechanism to release the hood. I sounds like it is actually in the mechanism that it is slipping. Are there any ways that I can open the hood so I can actually fix this device?
Vehicle: 2003 Toyota Tacoma (according to parts catalogs, all Tacoma models have the same hood release.
A: I had that same problem with a Mazda, I don't recall much, other than hiring a mechanic
GOOD LUCK
Q: Where can I find synthetic oil and lithium soap base chassis grease No.1? Auto parts stores do not carry it.?
This grease is required by my owners manual for the front drive shaft thrust bushings on my 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4WD. Would another, more reddily available grease be suitable? If so, can I mix different types?
A: Go to the Toyota Dealer Parts Dept. and they will sell it to you, thereby not having to worry about the right type or mixing issues.
Q: Which Vehicle should we sell?
My husband and I have a 2005 TDI Diesel Jetta and a 2004 prerunner TDR off road 4 door Toyota Tacoma truck.
We need to sell on of these vehicles.
The Pros and Cons:
PROS JETTA:
Diesel and fantastic gas mileage at 40-56mpg.
$9.00 inspection fee every year, very cheap and very safe
It's a diesel so it is supposed to last for a very long time.
CONS JETTA:
Very expensive to repair and change ANYTHING on the vehicle. Needs special batteries, oil changes, and parts. I can not go to Advanced Auto and get something to use for the car, it can ONLY be done at VW. Needs special tools to remove nuts for breaks, only VW sells brakes, only VW sells batteries, only VW has tools to open up mechanics on car.
Does not start sometimes on mornings that are cold.
Batteries cost $350.00 via VW
Very noisey
PROS of TOYOTA: Toyota's are generally reliable
It is large enough for a family
Can buy parts at advanced auto and change oil at home and fix mechanical problems at home
CONS of Toyota: High miles at 100k, tires are expensive so replace, and toyota parts can be too.
Low gas mileage at about 15-28mpg.
What do you guys think?
Which vehicle should I sell?
Many Thanks!
A: sell the jetta
Q: can i put a newer front on my 88 Toyota 4runner?
i wanted to put newer front fenders , grill , etc on my 88 4runner. i would like to take the parts from a 90's and up Tacoma or 4runner
is this possible??
A: From what I understand, because I havenʻt actually done it my self, you would either have to change your entire front clip or modify your front to get it to bolt on.
I could be wrong but, a buddy tried it and he said it didnʻt line up right.
Q: 03 Tacoma 4x4 check engine light still on?
Everything was fine till both my cats were stolen..Went to local muffler shop they gave me 2 new cats..4 months later 400 miles i get 0420 code toyota says my cats are not heating up and need new ones..I go back to muffler shop they give me 2 new much better cats this time..3weeks 70miles later i get 0420 code again..My front 02 sensor is reading 3.41 volts.. Back 02 sensor is 0.0021......... What is going on here? Am i really blowing up my cats every time after i drive anywhere from 70 - 400 miles? I heard people like me with same prob who used OEM toyota parts and still having same prob.. What do i do??? I've change my front o2 sensor 3 times..Using bosh every time and its still showing high voltage..
Please can anybody help me?
A: The factory cats on your 4.0litre V-6 are very close to the engine just downstream of the exhaust manifold. With this kind of a set up its best to replace them with factory original parts. Other than your new cats being of poor quality or installed improperly (too far from the engine), I cant see there being any other problem.
Q: Steps & Questions on importing a truck from the U.S to Canada?
im looking at importing i 2005/06 toyota tacoma from the U.S to Calgary AB Canada.
*im wanting information from people that have done this !
*anything to look out for ?(shipping ,Duty, taxes)
*do i have to pay capital gains if i sell it right away ?
*are there any unforeseen expenses to look out for ?
*do you need to upgrade any parts on the vehicle (seat belts) ?
A: See this site for all the information you might need: http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/impusae.htm
(Be advised: From personal experience, several of the later (1990 and newer) model Toyotas do NOT meet Canadian safety guidelines/rules, but that site above does include a list. To tell you the truth, unless it's a collectible or really valuable or you're moving up there and bringing it with, it's not worth the headaches.
Q: Should I get a 2WD or 4WD truck?
I am looking to get a new/used Toyota Tacoma (double cab) but cannot decide if I should get the PreRunner 2WD or opt for the 4WD model. I currently live in Georgia but will be traveling to different parts of the country, including New Hampshire during winter months. In your opinion would 4WD make a difference? In general is it worth it? I have never owned a truck before.
A: RF1414, I bought a used Toyota Tacoma 4wd in Colorado last month and saved a lot. I haven't had any problems yet. I only buy used cars. http://www.findusedcardealer.com
Q: Should I finance at this rate on this vehicle?
It's a 2001 Nissan Frontier with the Super-Charged 2wd Desert Package. A light green/ almost gold. Leather, AC, Sunroof, etc. 40,700 miles on it.
The loan they offer is 72 months, 14.8% Interest for $316 per month. $3792 per year to total $22,752 after 6 years. They are asking $14,998 total for it. The car is through Carmax and the loan is Capital One.
I'm only 21 years old and started getting credit a year ago (Credit Cards and other accounts like that). The financing they are offering is easily payable but I don't want to get screwed on paying all that for an 11 year old car (after it's all said and done.)
The other option is to go to a local dealership and buy a Toyota Tacoma (They sell so fast in Las Vegas it's unbelievable.)
The truck is going to be used for daily driving plus I am going to start a part-time lawn maintenance business here in town.
I appreciate the help, give me the best opinion on the rate and also any pros/cons about the trucks, you get 10 points. :)
If I can find a brand new vehicle, is it worth it to do that instead? I want a reliable truck.
I don't expect to be keeping the truck for more than 3 years seeing as I will have better credit in the future.
Will I be able to refinance to a lower year loan later on?
A: I also answered your question about "Toyota or Nissan" and, because I bought my 2005 Nissan this way, that worked very well for me, I'll pass it on to you too and hope that you have just as much luck with it.
First of all, 14.8% is WAY high but, pretty much the norm for a 5 year old vehicle ( new vehicles interest rates are lower ). Shop online. Do your research on price and options. Then, apply online at;

If you are approved, you could get a rate on a new truck as low as 5.99% and have a "Blank Check". With this, ( and having done your homework ) you walk into the dealership and tell the salesperson, you will buy the truck TODAY and pay CASH, IN FULL for $4000 - $5000 less than window sticker AND keep your rebates ! ( with your blank check loan from your Capital One Auto Finance loan ).
Remember what I said about this having already worked for me ?
I walked into the Nissan dealership in March of 2005. The window sticker on my '05 Nissan Frontier NISMO, 4WD, V-6, 6-speed, Extended cab with 6 disc CD was $27,800. I told the salesperson that I wanted $5000 for my '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee ( with 100 K miles ) and would pay no more than $22,000 for the truck, before my trade. Financing was already in place and I would be writing a check today if they agreed to my terms. 15 MINUTES later, I was filling out the paperwork.
I had credit problems too and, was debt loaded ( First and second mortgage, payments on a new motorcycle and credit cards ) but, I still came out of Capital One at 7.25% for 60 months and $348 monthly payments. I've since consolidated ALL of my debt into a new Home Equity loan ( which, if youre a homeowner is an excellent way to go ) and everything is paid for.
